- A citizen of India.
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
- A person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries (e.g., Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, etc.) with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- Gender: Only male candidates are eligible for Stenographer Grade ‘D’ posts in the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
- Physical Fitness: Candidates for BRO must pass a One Mile Run in 10 minutes and meet specific region-wise height and weight standards.
