SSC CGL 2026 Notification

The Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2026 is a major national recruitment drive conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to fill approximately 12,256 tentative Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ vacancies across various central ministries, departments, constitutional bodies, and statutory organizations under the Government of India. Eligibility Criteria for Assam Home Guards Recruitment 2026

1. Nationality / CitizenshipA candidate must be either:  

  • A citizen of India, or  
  • A subject of Nepal, or  
  • A subject of Bhutan, or  
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia) and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

(Note: Candidates belonging to the categories above, other than Indian citizens, must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India ).

2. Age Limit (As on 01-08-2026) :

The requirement of age varies depending on the group of posts you are applying for:  

  • For posts with an age limit of 18–27 years: Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1999 and not later than 01-08-2008.  
  • For posts with an age limit of 20–30 years: Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1996 and not later than 01-08-2006.  
  • For posts with an age limit of 18–30 years: Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1996 and not later than 01-08-2008.  
  • For posts with an age limit of 18–32 years (such as JSO): Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1994 and not later than 01-08-2008. 
Age Relaxation:
Upper age limits can be relaxed for reserved categories, including:  
  • SC / ST: 5 years   
  • OBC: 3 years   
  • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years   
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years   
  • PwBD (SC / ST): 15 years   
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age.
3. Educational Qualifications (As on 01-08-2026)
Candidates must have completed their graduation benchmarks on or before the cut-off date
  • Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at the $12^{\text{th}}$ standard level; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level.  
  • Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Demography, Population Studies, Operation Research, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Computer Application, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence from a recognized University or Institute.  
  • Assistant Audit Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer (State Cadre): Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute AND proficiency in the Regional/Official language of the State concern (ability to read, write, speak, and understand the language at the matriculation/secondary school level). 
  • All Other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

Note: Final Year Students: If you are in the final year of your graduation, you can still apply; however, you must possess and be able to prove you acquired the essential qualification on or before 01-08-2026.

4. Physical and Medical Standards :

For certain specific field-work and executive posts, candidates must meet explicit physical standards, medical standards, and physical tests managed by the respective user departments after final selection:

 

  • Applicable Posts: Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer), Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN, Sub-Inspector/Junior Intelligence Officer in NCB, Sub-Inspector in CBI, Sub-Inspector in NIA, and Upper Division Clerk/Senior Secretariat Assistant in BRO.
  • Gender Restriction (BRO): Only male candidates are eligible for the vacancies reported in the Border Roads Organization (BRO)

Pattern of the Examination

The SSC CGL selection process is strictly computer-based and spans across two Tiers.

 

Tier-I Exam Pattern (Qualifying Structure) :

Tier-I consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions set in both English and Hindi (except the English section). It has a uniform structural duration of 1 hour with mandatory 15-minute sectional timers for each segment.

Tier-II Exam Pattern :

Final selection and ranking parameters depend entirely on the consolidated performance in the Tier-II stages. Paper-I is compulsory for all posts.

How to Apply- SSC CGL 2026 ?

  1. One-Time Registration (OTR) : All candidates must generate a fresh One-Time Registration (OTR) on the updated website.
  2. Sign in to the system using your OTR Registration Number and your modified password.
  3. Under the ‘Latest Notifications’ tab on your candidate dashboard, look for the ‘Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2026’ section and click on the ‘Apply’ link.
  4. Your basic details (Name, DOB, Category, etc.) will be automatically populated from your OTR data and are non-editable.
  5. Capture Live Photograph:  Unlike older application processes, you do not need to upload a pre-existing photograph. The application module will prompt you to capture a live photo using your webcam or smartphone. Ensure you stand/sit against a plain background with good lighting. Look directly into the camera at eye level.  Do not wear caps, facial masks, or glasses/spectacles while capturing your live photo. Application forms with incorrect or blurred photographs will be rejected.
  6. Upload Scanned Signature: Upload a scanned copy of your signature in JPEG/JPG format. The file size must be between 10 KB to 20 KB, with standard dimensions of about 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height).
  7. Preview and Submit: Use the ‘Preview’ option to double-check every single field you filled out. Complete the final declaration by checking the “I agree” box and entering the text captcha code.
  8. Pay the application fee of ₹100/- using online modes such as BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, or RuPay Debit cards.
  9. Once your payment is successful and the application is accepted provisionally, download and take a printout of the completed online Application Form for your personal records.
