1. What are the things the child sees on his way to the fair? Why does he lag behind?

(मेलायाव थांनायाव गथ’आ मा मा मुवाफोरखौ नुयो? बियो मानो उन उन जानानै थायो?)

Answer: On his way to the fair, the child sees many attractive things such as toys in the shops, flowering mustard fields, dragonflies, little insects, doves, sweets, balloons, flower garlands, and people enjoying the fair.

          He lags behind because he is fascinated by all these beautiful and interesting things. He stops again and again to look at them closely and wants to enjoy everything around him.

2. In the fair he wants many things. What are they? Why does he move on without waiting for an answer?

3. When does he realise that he has lost his way? How have his anxiety and insecurity been described?

Answer: The child realizes that he has lost his way when he reaches the roundabout in the fair and turns around to ask his parents for a ride, but they are nowhere to be seen. He suddenly notices that he is alone in the crowded fair.

          His anxiety and insecurity are described very clearly. He becomes frightened and starts crying loudly, “Mother! 4. Why does the lost child lose interest in the things that he had wanted earlier?

Answer:  The lost child loses interest in the things he had wanted earlier because he becomes frightened after losing his parents in the crowded fair. Earlier, he wanted sweets, balloons, flowers, and a ride on the merry-go-round, but after getting separated from his parents, nothing attracts him anymore.

          He only wants to find his mother and father because their love, care, and safety become more important to him than all the attractions of the fair.

5. What do you think happens in the end? Does the child find his parents?

(नोंथाङा मा सानो जोबनायाव मा जाखो? गथ’आ गावनि बिमा-बिफाखौ मोनो ना?)

Answer:  It seems that the child would finally find his parents with the help of the kind man. The man was caring and helpful, and he tried many ways to comfort the child. He would ask about the child’s parents and help reunite them.

        Yes, it is likely that the child finds his parents in the end. Although the story does not clearly tell us what happens afterward, we can guess that the kind man who takes care of the child helps him reunite with his parents.
