NFR Apprentice Recruitment 2026

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has released the official notification for the engagement of 6777 Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for the training sessions 2025–2026 and 2026–2027. Eligible candidates who have passed Class 10 with ITI in the relevant trade can apply online through the official NFR website from 20 July 2026 to 19 August 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational & Technical Qualification

  • For Medical Laboratory Technicians (Pathology/Radiology): Must have passed 12th Class (10+2 system) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, securing a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in both 10th and 12th standards.  
  • For All Other Trades: Must have passed Matriculation (Class 10) or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Candidates must also possess a National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the notified trade issued by NCVT/SCVT.  

Note: The minimum 50% aggregate marks condition in Matriculation is waived for SC, ST, and PwBD candidates.  

2. Age Limit (As on August 19, 2026)

  • Minimum Age: 15 Years
  • Maximum Age: 24 Years

3. Upper Age Relaxations:

  • SC / ST: 5 Years 
  • OBC (NCL): 3 Years 
  • PwBD: 10 Years 
  • Ex-Servicemen: 10 Years + defense service period (up to max limits)

Selection Mode

  • Selection will be strictly based on Academic Merit.  
  • General Trades: Average of the percentage marks obtained in Matriculation (Class 10) + ITI marks.  
  • Medical Lab Technicians: Average of the percentage marks obtained in Matriculation + 12th Science.  
  • Shortlisted candidates (up to 1.5 times the vacancy slots) will be called for Document Verification (DV) and must produce a valid medical fitness certificate signed by an authorized Government Doctor (Gazetted, rank not below Asst. Surgeon).  

Monthly Stipend

NTC/STC certificate holders receive a minimum of ₹9,600 per month (effective from 11.09.2025 under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship guidelines). 

 
Wherever a 1-year or 2-year exemption is applicable within the curriculum, the progressive rates are:  

  • 2nd Year: ₹10,560 per month (reflects a 10% increase).  
  • 3rd Year: ₹11,040 per month (reflects a 15% increase).  

The stipend rates are subject to updates and periodic revisions as notified by the appropriate authorities.  


Note: No hostel accommodation is provided by the railway administration during the training period; selected trainees must make their own living arrangements.

However, 20% of vacancies notified in Level-1 (erstwhile Group D) posts are reserved to give preference to Course Completed Act Apprentices trained in railway establishments, provided they clear the minimum qualifying cut-offs.
