1. Answer the following questions (गाहायाव होनाय सोंथिफोरनि फिन हो) :

a) What did the king wish for? (राजाया माखौ हास्थायदोंमोन?)

Ans:- The king wished for whatever he touched would turn into gold. 

 

b) How did the king test his power? राजाया गावनि गोहोखौ माबोरै आनजाद नायदोंमोन?

Ans:- The king tested his power by touching a stone. 

 

c) What happened to the princess when the king hugged her? जेब्ला राजाया गोबादोंमोन अब्ला राजखुंग्रिया मा जादोंमोन?

Ans:- When the king hugged his daughter, she turned into a statue of gold.

 

d) How did the king get rid of his golden touch? राजाया गावनि सनानि दांनायनिफ्राय माबोरै रैखा मोनखो?

Ans:- The king got rid of his golden touch by washing his hands in the river, as instructed by the Divine Spirit.

 

e) What lesson did King Midas learn at the end? जोबनायाव राजा मिदासआ मा आयदा सोलोंदोंमोन ?

Ans:- King Midas learned that love and happiness are the true wealth, and that they are worth far more than gold and money.

1.  King Midas always wanted more gold. 

2.  Divine Spirit met King Midas one day.

3.  The Divine Spirit said, “I will grant you one wish.” 

4.   King Midas said, “I wish whatever I touch turns into gold”. 

5.  Then, excited, he ran to tell his daughter the news. 

6.  When she hugged him, she instantly turned into a statue of gold.

7.  After that, King Midas became very sad. 

8.  Next, the Divine Spirit told Midas to wash his hands in the river.

9.  King Midas quickly went to the river and washed his hands. 

10.  His daughter came back to life.

11. Finally, King Midas learned to be happy with what he had.

7. a) Read the following sentences, and notice the underlined words:

The sentences given above refer to actions that happened before.
 
All the sentences talk about actions that happened before. When we talk about events or actions that took place at a definite time in the past, we use verbs in the Simple Past Tense. In the simple past tense of a verb, we say what we did yesterday, or last week, or even a long time ago. We use the second form of the verb by adding ‘-d’ or ‘-ed’ to the verb. Let’s see the first and second forms of the underlined verbs:
